Not really... The US killed around 400,000 Iraqis. For "security". It's the same event seen from two different sides.

placing military installations around a state that is openly hostile is not equivalent to death squads

But invading and killing people in a foreign country in the name of "security" is. And that's exactly what they'd like to do with Iran, as the Pentagon has made abundantly clear, they just haven't had the chance yet. But they are sure prepared.
