The poorest people in the world collect rain water out of potholes in the road. Poorest in Mississippi probably have indoor plumbing and a tv.

Err… the poorest in Mississippi are probably homeless. But the average poor person probably has it much better in many ways than people in many other countries, yes, and even the homeless may (or may not) have better resources than homeless in many other countries. Notice how Spain and Italy have a lower GDP per capita than Mississippi, despite having a pretty high standard of living (from what I understand).
