Tutankhamun’s Lotus Chalice. The handle is a lotus flower and bud supporting with god Heh, the symbol of eternal life. Found at the entrance to the tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62). Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo.

Pretty cool design, appears to be very well executed. Hard to believe how old it is given the condition it’s in—it looks like it could have been made yesterday. I was curious about the inscriptions so I wikied it. That led to my spending an obscene amount of time checking out various pieces of Egyptian art. It was worth the trouble; the art/craft objects they left behind are fascinating.
