I still don't think the idea of the 74,000 year ago, expansion out of Africa is true... especially since the Toba eruption made it one of the worst times ever to leave Africa. Combine that with the "appearance" of "modern man", the bodies are only found near to Bab El Mandeb straight - the most convenient crossing.
I feel that the modern sapiens entered Africa after Toba rendered the equatorial regions uninhabitable for some time.
