Brazilian here. The talk about a CIA coup in Brazil is actually just a far left wet dream, they want it to be true so it supports their propaganda. Not saying the US had no interests in Brazil, especially during the cold war, but the "coup" started as a movement to halt the communist infiltration in the government (it is however a shame that they allowed them to infiltrate the media and academia).

CIA couped the hell out of brazil. Reality is a far left dream but that's really a nightmare

There's a fairly big difference between covert actions and a backed coup d'état. The latter is the one I'm referring.
