How do I claim an abandoned sub?

Yeah we could probably get you added as the second mod, if you wanted to carry on in the existing tradition of the sub. However your post history should indicate that you have interest in the topic and your account should be at least 2 weeks old.

Yeah we could probably get you added as the second mod,

Then I could spend years of work building up the sub just to have some random guy return and steal it.

(This happens all the time on reddit and it's terrible.)

Please help me- I only want to be the top mod.

But it wouldn't be some random guy, it could only be /u/magpie who started the sub and submitted a lot of its top content?

We really just don't have this policy worked out yet. Going by Reddit standards your account would have to be 90 days old and have some karma. You do seem to be a long term redditor though. It's cool that you want to spend years here building something up.

What if we worked something out like user for 2 weeks (like everyone else has to wait), second mod for 90 days, then top mod after that? What about /s/Anti_Psychiatry or /s/AntiPsych instead?

I'm responding about requesting an abandoned sub. A few months ago you said:

An update:

  • /u/Magnora7 made me the 2nd mod.

  • I've been second mod for over 90 days.

  • And the top mod (magpie) has been gone for a year now.

So may I please become the top mod in /s/AntiPsychiatry? Thank you.

I've built up many subs for multiple years (making thousands of posts) just to have some absentee guy return and take over.

eg I built up a sub for 7 years- I had endless comments and submissions in the sub.

Basically:

  • The top mod was active for one day.

  • He created the sub, submitted like 3 things, then left.

  • I was active in the sub like 2500 days. I knew everyone.

This random guy just returns and demods me, tells me if I mention his actions to anyone he'll ban me. A total bully.

And it's not just me, it's the norm. It's a common horror story I've heard from lots of other mods.

Reddit Request.

On reddit, if a mod is gone for 2 months then you can request the sub. Magpie has been gone for a whole year. So I think it's extremely fair to request he be removed.

Promotion.

And I've been planning to promote this sub on reddit, but I've been waiting until this guy is removed.

I don't want to build this up and have it happen yet again. It just keeps happening, over & over, and over.

Please help me.
