Can you identify this insect? I found it hanging onto the fence pole near my garden. Is this bug a friend or foe for garden plants?

I believe it's a bordered plant bug, largus succintus. From what I'm reading, they may damage berries if you have them, but don't do much harm otherwise.

Good tip.... thank you! It does appear to be the Bordered Plant Bug (Largus succinctus). There are various complaints of this bug doing damage, while other people do not notice significant damage. But I have seen no one say anything good about the bug. One person said even their chickens would not eat them.
