In my experience it means you're a barista, but with qualifications: 1 sleeve means you're the new guy and mostly wipe tables and help behind the counter during a rush. 2 sleeves means you've been there long enough to have some clout and is pretty much trusted to make any coffee that's on the board. 2 sleeves, a facial tat, and maybe a calf or two and/or gauges means that you are a warlock and only expected to hold court for giggling waitresses and handle coffee requests that aren't on the board made by super models, international assassins/spys, and the uber wealthy.

Well yes and no. These days they have the internet with which to feed and target more victims.

So you don't see them in person as often. Or their tattoos.
