Or, they could just not fly around everywhere in aeroplanes? There are ways to reduce your carbon footprint other than the complete and utter dissolution of any semblance of democracy in favour of an authoritarian regime where everyone starves and nothing's allowed to eat plants, you know.

Not really. I mean, some of their campaigns are horribly wasteful, but that doesn't mean you should have fewer candidates. It just means that the candidates should be less wasteful.

The article is satire. Don't read too much into it. It makes people laugh at you, and belittles the serious stuff you've got to say if you associate it with jokes.
