Emotional "influence" people sensing each other causes : Touch > Smell > See > Hear : imho.

Quite reasonable, simply considering the range of those senses.

Chimps hug, right?

That's literally how ape babies hang on to their mothers.

If I asked to hang onto you, would you say yes?

I'm sure that her female dating strategy includes selecting men who mimic apes.

Humans are apes.

Some are. I can agree exactly as far as that.

But there are higher-order functions never seen executed by a mean ape's brain.

Like translating languages or defining words for certain things only existing in imagination.

I believe it's instinctual. As mentioned, animals hug, and not just chimps. We see all sorts of animals embracing each other.

Nice selfie! On the Internet, nobody knows you're a muskrat. (Unless you tell people in your username, I suppose.)

Muskrats are rodents. As we all developed from. Considering how rodents have survived underground in clans 65 million years ago when this small pebble hit earth: I believe it ain't surprising that they developed a social behavior containing altruistic traits (without direct self-interest).

Beyond breeding care most birds do.

Rodents were so successful in conquering ecosystems that till to today the only flying mammals still are rodents, basically.

Just look how big the societies are some kinds of bats tend to form.

I used to get them all the time from many ladies, often at the same time.
