Until he grows up and realizes (or not) that relationships don't work very well like that

My brother was like that as a kid. He became more skilled at controlling and manipulating people as he got older. I'm not sure he experiences empathy much, if at all. Just how he is.
He's been married happily for years, has a family, half of whom are adult children now.
It's not the manipulator that suffers, it's everyone else around them.
