Get ready for the new batch of doctors, researchers, scientists, lawyers and psychologists who had this as their college experience, just 1-2 more years before some of them can start getting jobs and apprenticeships lol.

I’m glad my first three years and 1/4th of my senior were before this bullshit. I honestly don’t learn much outside of what I teach myself nowadays. Everyone cheats. We all have a group chat for each class lol. And the professors, most of them which are elderly and have this hubris around them in all the high-level, senior-only classes, are terrible at this. They think this has become their own mini college where they make the rules. And they don’t even understand the technology and fail to teach us shit and then move on for the sake of time.

I hope no one is actually paying money for this.

The worst part is, each semester the school still bills us for the gym (which is inaccessible as the whole school is closed lol), locker-rooms, showers, dorms (which are empty/closed), first-aid (nurses office, they’re gone lol, the nurses haven’t worked at our school since schools first closed), library and lab fees, office for students with disabilities, campus police (lol no one is on campus) and last but not least, Dunkin’ Donuts for being on our campus.

We thought this would be a mistake that would be handled after the first semester (as everything was a mess and it was two-three weeks into the semester schools were closed iirc) but no one can get an answer about it. Teachers all know but don’t know what to say or do about it, and staff know but no one says anything. The bursar tells you to contact the board and gives you the boards student to board contact email but the board never replies lol.

So we’re all forced to pay for things and services we literally aren’t even allowed to have access to or we straight up can’t go to our online classes as our classes get dropped if you don’t pay your tuition on time. And I go to a State University lol. They act like they’re good to go to but it explains why they’re so fucked up.

Yes, that's insane, but nothing compared to tuition. It's a big joke to think that the "education" is worth $50,000 per year, especially since all of the information is practically available for free online.

If you are able to invest the time i suggest setting up a jitsi : https://jitsi.org/

Its the only video-conference sw i know which had neither fuckups nor data abundance.

WebEx, Zoom and Teams are honeypots using questionable monetization models as well as closed-source. Maybe the NSA will give you a backup your conversations back if you ask nicely though in case you forgot to record smth .

Thanks for the recommendation, I know right lol? I don’t use webcam, and the few times I’ve had to for school zoom, the professor wants you using zoom lol it sucks. I now make sure I take a class where it isn’t necessary. Idk why but even as a young kid on skype I felt uncomfortable doing anything other than mic.

The classes I was in where zoom were necessary were terrible, I dropped them while there was still time so I could get money back. Which is unfortunate because one of those classes was Research Methods 2 (my second to last manditory class for me to graduate), so shit set me back.

I found out last semester teachers who use zoom are prone to making their own rules but thought it was a one off; this semester my rm2 teacher wanted to change the class time to 8 am from 430-645 pm (you can’t do that lol but she did. If we were in school she’d get in trouble as that’s a falsely advertised time), and we all had to be clean showered and shaven (and dressed, no sweats or pajamas, just like we were in real class), and we had to ask for permission to use the bathrooms in our own houses.

that woman was nuts. She was my second or third zoom class, I had to drop it to get my money back before it was too late.

Supposedly they’re actually letting us back in school next semester, but with the cdc talking about a more “powerful corona” strain coming in 7 months I’m doubtful as to how long this will last. They want things all digital like this.

I know these fuckups and "strange" rules from my time when i worked for T-Systems. They use a lot of Cisco-shit "because demand" and of course corona situation led to an increase in market share of already "too big to fail" products.

That is why i don't feel bad shilling for non-profit-software, even when it serves only as a suggestion what some "decider" can do beforehand to completely avoid or at least mitigate all these problems that occur with all this shitty software in productive (so critical) use.
