Would have been perfect for /s/retards, but I did mildly laugh at his stupidity.

If he bleeds black, is he most likely extra-terrestrial? When he gets the free call, will he be able to phone home?

Given that thump to the noggin, he might not be making many calls for awhile.

He could see stars. Must be nostalgic.

Free climbing is not free from the consequences of free climbing.

I see this was organized by Extinction Rebellion, which focuses on Climate Change awareness. Seems this person planned to paint black letters on the Chase building. If anyone at Saidit doesn't like Big Banks and what they've done to the world and national economies, and the environment, for the past 300 years, then you'll like what Extinction Rebellion is doing. Many people here are angry with Big Banks and money in corrupt politics. Consider joining Extinction Rebellion. It's a good group. Forget about 'left' or 'right'. These people are fighting for a clean environment. They're challenging governments and the 1% who are abusing the 99% and the rest of the world. They are part of the change that many on Saidit want.

ER disrupts public transport in the UK.

Public transport is good for the environment.

They protest because they hate ordinary people and think they are superior to them.

The planet comes second to that, every time.

They are not on our side.

At least they're making an effort to deal with corporate and government abuses, rather than merely talking about it online.

Are you going to keep being an establishment mouthpiece?

We all have lives away from these websites, socks. Don't be a twat. Do you think we all just sit around with our thumbs up our asses?

Supporting XR (as I do) is definitely not what an establishment mouthpiece does.

Continue living your life, socks. I just want you to quit trying to talk down on the users here, then fucking comment and post everyday. We do things in our personal lives, some of us are very active people, and some of us take an active interest in the well-being of our communities. This isn't some alt-right circle-jerk den like you've often tried to make it out to be. To firmly address the reason we are even talking right now: most people who take an active interest in talking about and learning about current topics, such as a good chunk of the folks you argue with here, do not "merely talk" about dealing with corporate and government abuses. They prepare and act accordingly.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I don't think you or I know the users here that well.

My concern was for criticism of XR, especially at Saidit, where I get notes from people that they don't vote, and that everything is bad, and there is no hope for anything. XR is actively trying to make a difference, which is more than many of us do.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

"which is more than many of us do."

prove this, please.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

You know it can't be proven. But if you look at the comments about not voting for one of the 2 leading candidates, contrasted with the general lack of anti-government protests in the US, and the demonization of the few protestors who support BLM and women by alt-right people, you'll have some evidence.

You know that the political bureaucracy and the banks are controlled by the same people right? A tiny little club of billionaires? XR wants to hand over the entire world energy market in to the political bureacracy’s hands.

That means all the energy in the world will be controlled by a handful of billionaires.

Total regulatory power over energy is the same as owning it. Do you understand that?

Owning all the energy in the world is the same as owning the world economy. They would have complete controll over all economic activity everywhere. Billionaires.

Yes of course this is what the establishment wants. They absolutely fund this shit because they know these useful idiots dont understand economics or physics. Or history for that matter. Stuart Basden and I definitely dont see eye to eye on civilization.

XR wants to hand over the entire world energy market in to the political bureacracy’s hands.

The exact opposite of this.

(Where in the world would one find evidence to support this. It seems like something the alt-right would peddle in order to demonize XR by describing them as the opposite of what they are. It's absolutely false.)

[–]InvoluntaryHalibut 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (22 children)

Okay who do you think XR want to give the power to regulate the burning of all fossil fuels, not to mention all sources of nuclear, hydro, wind, solar energy powering the grid too?

XR want “somebody” to “take control” and “stop them from killing us”. Who is that somebody?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (21 children)

Of course - democratically elected government regulations.

What is your alternative?: deregulation and corporate abuses?

[–]InvoluntaryHalibut 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (20 children)

Corporations and billionaires control our entire political system. They choose the nominees. They control the parties. They control the news coverage of candidates - I assume youve heard of manufactured consent. If they cant manufacture consent efficiently enough with the american electorate they change the demographics through migration to get the result they want. Corporate contractors are running most of our government agencies these days. Its the worst of both worlds, corrupt socialism and crony capitalism

You have a superstitious belief that government bureaucracies are virtuous and “private sector” bureacracies are evil. Because government is magic. A lot of liberals believe this. This is still the old paradigm, big business vs big government, republican vs democrat. It is not a useful paradigm for our current situation. These two forces are clearly in bed together. They are really one and the same. If you cant see how broken our “democracy” is at this point, what can I say? You still think growing government bureaucracy will stop corrupt corporate bureacracy? Thats naive.

Look at how badly government handled covid. You want to hand them the keys to your car and the switch on your furnace?

First. Understand that complex civiliations have many specialized economic sectors that musts all be coordinated somehow. Workers, people who create objective and tangible forms of wealth, like building houses or working in factories or curing cancer, need to coordinate.

The function of bureaucracies is to transmit information from one sector to another— political infromation, moral and legal information, economic information and other types of cultural information. The bureacracy is pure overhead. It produces no wealth directly. Its function is more abstract.

Gaining control of the bureacratic institutions of a society and distorting information is how a small number of people are looting the system. That is how wall street works. That is how the banking system works. These people literally have the power to determine the price of a dollar now.

Understand the distinction between the workers— direct wealth producers- and the bureaucracy. The divide between government bureacracy and corporate bureaucracy is now meaningless. Or havent you noticed. Our “democracy” is bought and paid for.

I think we can hate both the banks and their pets. Sure, they're biting the hand that feeds, but that's their job.

Thanks for this. I read it, wondered why he did not make his point in an explicit manner, or make it all, and then read more online and found this:

Their notes also sum-up what I was thinking. Like some older members of XR, they want to do much more dangerous stunts and they get upset when they're asked to back off of those idiotic, dangerous ideas. So this founding member is mentioning what he thinks XR should be, that it's much much more than just climate change (but he won't be specific, because he's a fool). Actual XR is definitely about climate change and all of the man-made, corporate, corrupt decisions that have helped with it.
