Reddit was filled with tons of comments making excuses and calling him a hero. With the usual 200 puns and orange man bad comments thrown in as well.

One of the worst things about reddit was that politics started to infect even the most generic subreddits.

That is so true! The Christian subreddits have nearly all been hijacked by far far far left trigger-happy power moderators who don't even participate in them except to be a draconian rule lawyer. They don't demonstrate any belief in God, in fact quite the opposite - they appear to be atheist or of another religious persuasion.
