Moments like this I wish I could vote funny on my own post... we should enable that /u/d3rr.

We had it working so you could un-vote your own funny, back when there was that bug. If you could just re-enable that 'bug', and then add the functionality for it to register a pressed funny vote, we'd have it!

Well our buddy /u/pitterpatterwater was just talking about this too. He didn't like the idea of the initial insightful upvote, I assume on content that's meant to be funny.

I could see no initial upvotes, everything starting at 0, and full self-voting allowed. That code would be doable and straight forward.

I think leaving the initial insightful is fine. I honestly wouldn't want someone posting if they didn't think their content was insightful, and I also think it'd be weird to have to upvote your own content every single time.

They should be able to un-vote (and re-vote) the insightful as an option so everyone is happy, but I think it should be on by default.

The funny should be off by default, but functional. Both functional, only insightful on by default. I tend to think that'd be the most natural.

I'm guessing you mean a preferences option. As a user, would it be difficult to implement that as something subreddit-specific, so I don't have to change my prefs when I tab over from /s/funny to /s/worldnews?

Also, how to tackle posts from funny subreddits not appearing as high in front page even if you've subscribed to the due to isightful = 2 funny? Perhaps a non-default view option where funny votes and insightful votes are equalised in terms of change to post/comment score?
