So how many refrigerators can we run if nobody was left alive on the African continent?

Africa is hot. Many places aren't air-conditioned.

Imagine the power an African fridge would consume.

The cylindrical silo is made from woven bamboo and tightly encased in clay to cover harvested seeds in a nearly airtight chamber, which also contains herbal insect repellents. Using simple design and simple materials, Tethere created a fully functioning, zero-emissions refrigerator.

Sealed clay pots in a hut. The new definition of "fridge".

My understanding is that central africans tend to consume a lot of energy in the form of firewood for cooking fuel. It has been argued that this sort of deforestation led to the Sahara desert.

    [–]Canbot 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

That claim is ridiculous. There is no way there was a population big enough to deforest a forest. If the conditions were not there to create the desert then the forrest would regrow faster than it could be cut down. Furthermore, fresh cut trees are not good firewood. They would most likely be burning dead trees.

Even if they clear cut the forest on an industrial scale with leteral alien technology it would only turn to grassland, not a desert.

At most they could be slightly accelerating the expansion of the desert at the boundary. Very slightly.

Sucks to be african but then they made their shithole all by them selves.

    [–]jet199[S] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

Well, it's a shithole where they don't have to heat their houses, commute to work and mostly grow their own food so they don't have to buy it and keep it chilled.

    [–]IkeConn 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Well that is fine well and good as long as they stay in Africa and don't come over here and shit on the street because they don't know how to use a toilet.

don't come over here and shit on the street

But what if it is a designated shitting street?

    mostly grow their own food

    Are You Sure About That?!

In Africa, hunger is increasing at an alarming rate. The COVID-19 pandemic, conflict, drought, economic woes, and extreme weather are reversing years of progress. As of 2019, 234 million sub-Saharan Africans were chronically undernourished, more than in any other region. In the whole of Africa, 250 million people were experiencing hunger, which is nearly 20% of the population.

Conditions are deteriorating across East Africa, where 7 million people are at risk of starvation and another 33.8 million face acute food insecurity. At least 12.8 million children are acutely malnourished in the region.

If be careful about quoting NGOs if I were you.

When women are truly malnourished their periods stop and they can't have kids. Are we seeing the populations fall in Africa or the opposite?

they probably have just enough food for that, hopefully they get vaccinated, that messes up women's periods.

This is what leftist environmentalists want for all of us. Abject poverty so we don't consume any resources which all belong to the chosen people.
