I understand that Monsanto developed the corn to be resistant to the Round-Up, but why ban all GMO plants? The native corn is modified by selective breeding. Pretty much the same thing. Sure, GMO usually means more yield but less nutrients, but why ban it? It has it's uses.

Corn is open pollinated, meaning its pollen floats in the air, sometimes a long distance. Thus GMO pollen contaminates crops that they prefer not to be GMO.

Yep, it's right there in the article, they want to preserve their local breeds. I don't think there's any problem with GMO but heritage breeds do need to be kept going. I mean that's likely where the GMO of the future will come from.

Why not just use the selectively bred corn? Why go through all the trouble of having shitty corn out there? GMO crops are dangerous, it's like gene editing on humans. This could quickly spiral out of control to where we are stuck with the GMO's.

Good for Mexico.

Holy shit! We agree on something, 100% in this case.

I support facts and liberty, socks. We should agree more often. Honestly, I think if you aren't being paid, and you just shill for the GovCorp unwittingly, then deep deep deep down under your ego is a good person who wants to be free. Deep deep deep down, somewhere, you are a good person who wants to be free.
