What I think the Trump-Musk people are essentially trying to do is domesticate the alternative fringe. They are doing it quite subtly, first coaxing them into the system so they can register everyone and map their networks out, and then gradually mixing the lite and hard right together and probably manipulating the backend so their moderate candidates come out the top influencers. The people calling Xitter the new mainstream media are correct, that's exactly what it is except with interactive narratives and tactful user collaboration.
