What are your favorite European countries?

I've been thinking about this for a while now. I was wondering, what are your favorite countries on the old continent? I'm not just talking about a holiday destination. I'm talking about every major aspect of a country. Its history, gastronomy, language, culture, achievements, people, and landscapes. Let's just say, what are your five favorite ones?

Here's my list:

FRANCE

France has always been my favorite country. It's just so beautiful. With a glorious history, elegant language and people, and the best cuisine in the world. I'm not alone in this. France attracts the most tourists every year. It has lost some of its beauty -- especially Paris -- but it's still the crown jewel of our civilization in my opinion. I can't even imagine Europe without it. If we lose France, we lose ourselves. France is also the most successful military power in history, contrary to what a lot of yanks seem to think.

ITALY

One of my favorite destinations to visit. Tuscany is a paradise on Earth. Rome is one of the greatest cities I've ever been to. Exquisite gastronomy and language. Gorgeous women. Unbelievable history. Only France beats it.

SPAIN

This is mostly because of nostalgia for me. I used to visit it every summer with family when I was much younger. In many ways it's like Italy but a little bit less impressive. Needless to say it's still an amazing country. Spain was the first global empire in history and boasts the second most spread language on the planet, after English. The only thing Spain has that's superior to Italy is the female population. I've always had a soft spot for Spanish girls. Lots of vacation sweethearts. Farewell and adieu to you, Spanish ladies, farewell and adieu to you, ladies of Spain...

GERMANY

One of the most underrated countries in Europe. It's not as beautiful as France or Italy, but it's still beautiful nonetheless. It's gastronomy -- particularly the wine -- and landscapes are especially underrated. The Mosel region is almost as beautiful as Tuscany in my opinion, and it has some of the finest wines of all time. I also used to visit this place a lot when I was a kid. Germany has achieved so much. A giant in philosophical and industrial excellence. I love the language and the people as well.

ENGLAND

Technically England isn't a country, but I've never been to the other parts of the United Kingdom, so I'll only mention England. English will always be my favorite language. It's so rich and powerful. A prefect mixture of Romance and Germanic languages. England's achievements are obvious. What more needs to be said? Would the world even be recognizable without it? No country has had a bigger impact on the world. Even though it's gastronomy isn't that great, it's landscapes are heavenly. Southern England especially is absolutely breathtaking. It really does look like the Shire. Lol!

HONORABLE MENTION: ANCIENT GREECE

Obviously you can't visit ancient Greece, but it's impossible for me to mention Europe without it. It's the cradle of our civilization and the Greeks have nothing to prove anymore. What they achieved during their antiquity blows everything else out of the water. We would be nowhere without them.

Anyway, a more lighthearted post is good once in a while. So, what is your list?

I haven't been to much of Europe but I'll give my list.

ITALY

How could anyone not love Italy? Unrivaled cuisine, lifestyle, language, art, history, women, no wonder everyone hates the Italians but wishes they were one! Italians were the pioneers of fascism, the contributions of Gentile, D'Annunzio, and Mussolini can not be understated. Not to mention Rome, probably the most important city in Europe, with its immaculate architecture and wealth of European history. Like every country I'll list, Italy's glory has diminished compared to previous days, but I'm very optimistic about the future of Italy.

SERBIA

I love the Serbian legacy, their history of constant prolonged struggle against larger powers is very inspiring. Not just recently against NATO, Serbian history in the World Wars is very respectable. I also love Serbs. They're hard-headed yet intelligent, athletic, and are largely immune to western cultural propaganda. Excellent folk music, too.

RUSSIA

Where to begin? I love Russian resilience. After surviving 70 years of communism, they survived the 1990s and continue to be a global power, despite losing much economic and political power from the collapse of the USSR. But, let's forget politics. Russia has a host of the best inventors, writers, artists, engineers, and composers. Their architecture is beautiful, from Petrine Baroque to the Russo-Byzantine architecture from the 1800s. I have a lot of respect for Russian colonialism and cossacks, maybe because I'm an American and there are parallels, but I've always found the escapades and misfortunes of the cossack hosts resonate with me.

ENGLAND

I've always been enamored with Anglo-Saxons, and that has gradually led to a deeper study into English history as a whole. Unlike the other countries, I've actually been to England. It's a beautiful country marred by some of the worst effects of globalization. Anyone who has seen the brutalist apartments and multiracial cities knows what I mean. Despite this, England is has probably had more impact on the world than any other country, with English being a global language and several countries spawning from English colonial ambitions. For better or for worse, the English spread European civilization across the globe and possessed a colonial empire that ruled more than a quarter of the world. It's a shame their cuisine is so awful!

AUSTRIA

Talk about underrated, Austria looks like a fairy tale rather than a real place. Beautiful well-maintained castles, glass-like lakes, and the alpine landscape make Austria one of my favorite European countries. And of course, Austria is very eco-friendly. It's a shame Austria lost the Austro-Prussian war, an Austria-led Catholic Germany would have been a sight to behold.

Excellent list. I agree with almost everything you said. I just think French cuisine is the best in the world. Italian cuisine is a close second though. Or I might actually say our Belgian cuisine is the best, but it's so similar to the French one that I didn't bother mentioning it.

By the way, the philosophical roots of fascism go back to Nietzsche and Sorel. D'Annunzio was basically an expression of both.

Have you read The New Idol in Thus Spake Zarathustra? He despises the state, and names it the coldest of cold monsters:

So what? Sorel hated the state too. Even D'Annunzio had anarchist leanings.

A very underrated country. It is beautiful. And let’s not forget that they formed the Iron Guard, one of the largest Fascist movements in Europe.

They also contributed huge numbers of troops who fought bravely in the Axis’ war effort against the USSR.

I've never been to Europe and with my income level I probably never will. If I did go I'd have to do it right and see as many places as possible. Part of me wants to try to start some type of side hustle gig to make enough money to travel. If I had unlimited money I'd do Germany, Scandinavia, Italy, England, Spain, Japan, Alaska, Argentina, and maybe even eastern Russian. (I like the cold). Since I refused to get vaxxed I assumed I'd never even legally get to travel again. Looks like most of those restrictions have lifted though. Thanks for the interesting post!

Scandinavian countries are obviously the best without a doubt. The societies are well functioning, high trust, low crime, low corruption, high iq, high work ethics, kind and loving, etc.

Ulster. Specifically the parts inhabited by ethnically Scottish Protestant settlers. It is the last bastion of traditional right wing culture in the entire UK, and indeed most of Europe.

The Ulster-Scots (that is, the “Scotch-Irish” for American readers) have carried on Scotland’s traditions, religion & even the Scots language far better than anywhere in my homeland.

They are one of the very few communities left in the UK that haven’t been completely demolished by American globo-homo. Despite constantly being labelled as “far right” & “bigots” they have fiercely defended their community. There have been instances where Paki & African invaders were forced out by locals & sex offenders are occasionally lynched before the police can get to them.

Right wing paramilitary groups such as the UVF & their political wing still have huge influence over the working class Protestant population. This combined with the fact that they still possess caches of weapons all over the country makes them a difficult target for globo-homo.

If anyone in Europe is prepared to fight back against the establishment, it might just be tiny Ulster.

Sure, any part in particular?

It’s very difficult to find in-depth books or articles online about the Loyalist community. It’s even harder to find information that is pro-Loyalist or even just sympathetic to our cause. Most of the international support & attention goes to the IRA/Catholics/Sinn Fein/etc. I’ll give it a shot though!

What I know mostly comes from years of living & growing up in the loyalist community. The best way for a foreigner to learn about us would be to visit Belfast during the 11th/12th July celebrations & just talk to people. Or go see a Rangers match in Glasgow Scotland. Also if you ever are in Belfast, book a ‘black cab tour’ of the city. Most of the drivers are people that grew up during the Troubles & are very knowledgeable.
