I think the biggest factor with this is the rise of polygamous dating ("talking stages" in zoomer parlance), dating apps being the main arbiter of male-female interactions has made it inevitable that multiple women will be orbiting a smaller number of men. Men tend to consider these arrangements as being single while women dupe themselves into thinking it's a relationship which further skews these stats. It's basically the white importation of side hoe/main hoe/baby mama culture. Personally I don't have the patience for dating multiple people like that but it seems to work well for the irls ik that roll that way. Doubt many of them will ever have traditional families tho.
