They even organized anti Russian neo Nazis into militias. These militias commited all kinds of atrocities, hence Azov battalion was born.

This successor began shelling pro Russian Ukrainians in the east upset about the coup, the violence lasted for years and killed thousands of Russian speaking Ukrainians.

Zelensky was chosen to run because they were sure he would be loyal and could be controlled, and because as an actor he would be good in front of the cameras. Once in office, Zelensky repeatedly crossed red lines that Russia had laid out, including directly threatening Russia with Nuclear weapons AS Russia was massing troops along the border. He either intentionally provoked a Russian invasion, or is one of the worst diplomats in history.
