You are making assumptions from a position of total ignorance. You don't know about the age or health of my father, so how can you draw conclusions? We do not even have a family history of strokes: this was a very surprising and unpleasant turn of events. The Doctor who saw my father was baffled by the stroke, and by his total recovery. For the record, my father is a heavy drinker, but he is otherwise a very healthy man for his age (early 60s).

Medical assessments are alot more complicated than useless adages like 'old people have strokes.'
