Cops are just trained dobermans. They are neither good nor bad. What matters is who is holding their leash. I dont view cops as heros and dont expect them to be, nor are they villains. They are simply a necessary evil in any society. They should be held accountable when they are corrupt or do bad, but we shouldnt expect them to be perfect, or self sacrificing, especially not in a society that constantly shits all over them and gloats or gets outraged every time they screw up, which because most of them arent exactly rocket scientists, is frequently.

Ultimately cops are neither good nor bad, they just are. They are not your friends, they serve power, whatever that power may be. The modern day media however is a thing of pure evil. Those media that arent actively evil are cowards who wont even risk their career, much less their life, speaking truth to real power. You can almost count the exceptions on one hand.
