If there was a major war against Russia, and it didn't escalate to the nuclear threshold somehow, the U.S. would have major problems with expanding their military. Even if they introduced conscription, they would find a severe shortage of suitable recruits. Zoomers are one of the least fit generations in American history. This has been borne out in actual studys.

Take a look at this: They warn that over 70% of young Americans between 17 and 24 can't make into military ranks because they are "too poorly educated, too overweight, or have a history of crime or substance abuse."

A war wouldn't last long enough for conscription to become relevant. The Russians would overrun the baltic states and Poland within 2 weeks. The US wouldn't even have time to move its active brigades to the front.

Less than 20,000 US soldiers are even worth anything these days the vast majority of the military is a glorified welfare program. SOF units are the exception to that but they're a very small force.

SOF are the most overrated thing on earth. A battalion of SEALs would be slaughtered by a regular US army battalion.

Why?

Because spec ops are light infantry and the regular battalion has tanks, artillery and mirtars

SOF isn't magic, it's just soldiers selected and trained to the standard that all infantry soldiers ought to be. Obviously if you take the logistics and support out they'd have a tough time. SEALs especially are highly dependent on Army/Navy support. Army SOF units are more independent I think.
