it makes sense, he limited his caloric intake, if you don't eat enough of any molecule it is impossible for your body to gain mass, it doesn't magically appear out of thin air to make you fatter just because it's from mcdonalds

That's anecdotal evidence that was conducted by a high-school science teacher not a doctor. There is no study, no control group, nothing to validate the results other than the claims of this high-school science teacher. Also, we know that these days, teachers are pretty much the bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to intelligence so I'm not sure this guy's anecdotal evidence is truthful, useful or accurate. Moreover, the article reads like an endorsement for McDonalds. I wouldn't be surprised if McDonalds sponsored it.
