I didn't mention a race or ethnicity. (The problem is severe income inequlity, and the immigrants are of various ethnicities.)

Being poor doesn't force your dick into another human being.

For a long time I believed what I was taught, socioeconomic conditions are really what's responsible for crime.

But for whatever reason it never occurred to me that half my family was kinda piss ass poor 2nd generation Americans not so long ago and they didn't go around hurting other people cause they were poor.

It's probably more culturally based, tied in with religion where it applies. People that come from an area where they don't give a damn about the host country, believing them infidels/rich/racists/unclean or a race/people that doesn't deserve what they have. It's rationalization of criminal behaviors, and then culturally imposed becausethey think they're culturally superior. Poverty couldn't be the only predisposing factor when it happens regardless of poverty. Mental health factors in somewhere, but probably only in smaller parts of those populations.
