Never fails to make me laugh in a bitter sort of way that Emmet Till's father was hanged for the rape of two women in Italy during WW2. That lynch mob did nothing wrong.

No you misunderstood. Till's father wasn't lynched he was convicted by a military tribunal of the rape of multiple White women in Italy and hanged for his grotesque crimes. There was no lynching involved.

I'm saying that his son was likely up to the same kind of behaviour -- or at least attempting to -- and that's why he was lynched.

Lynching is not something that belongs in a civilized society

Bringing black people creates incivility. Thus the need for lynching. Want less lynching? keep the races separate. Allow each group to police their own.

Look into how many blacks were 'lynched' in the south. You will see that those numbers match today's black rape and murder conviction rates. 'Lynching' wasn't about brutality. It was about whites trying to deal with a violent foreign element that was only there because another foreign power wanted white southerners to suffer for the civil war.

    This brings an interesting question to mind. We know that law enforcement was generally stricter in Western Europe as opposed to Eastern Europe (Poland and Russia especially). Capital punishment had a eugenic effect on the population by removing the most violent people from the gene pool. Could lax enforcement of the law explain why the Slavs are more aggressive and uncivilised?

    Well believe it or not there was probably a lot of pressure on the woman so I don't really take her recanting the tale very seriously. This was years later and after all the story of Till had become a sacred cow of the civil rights movement. She probably didn't want to be thought of as that woman from To Kill A Mockingbird.

    You say mob rule is wicked but think about a case like the Leo Frank trial. A Jewish pederast, child rapist and murderer who is two or three times convicted but then uses his powerful friends to get his sentence reduced in a corrupt manner is lynched -- there were Blacks at the lynching too BTW.

    Now I believe in a perfect world with a functioning legal system it's preferable for that not to happen but we don't live in that world and when people are so outraged by this what exactly is your objection to them killing Leo Frank?

    Outliers like Leo Frank shouldn't decide the system we use. If we had mob rule right now someone innocent like Rittenhouse could be hanging. The trial system is simply a more accurate and civilized way of doing things.

      Just to play Devil's advocate, there's an important piece of the article missing.

      Fears that some sort of ‘black terror’ was being unleashed on women in Normandy were carried far and wide, and it was all too easy to pin a crime on to a black soldier rather than a white one. In addition, some French woman claimed to have been raped rather than admit that they had willingly had sex, and some prostitutes would threaten a rape accusation in order to extract more money out of a GI.

      Not saying they aren't guilty, but in real life, Women are definitely known to lie that their consensual sex was now "rape".
