An HBD question: What difference in appearance would you say, exist between British, German, and French peoples?

These three peoples along with the low countries and Austria form the core of Western Europe. They are North West Europeans and genetically they are quite similar. But I don't think they are exactly interchangeable, not even on an appearance level.

Slavs and Meds can be clearly differentiated from NW euros.

But what differences would you say exist between them in terms of appearance.

My own two cents on the issue:

Frenchmen are a lot less blond and more likely to have brown eyes I also feel like they have a larger nose and more round facial features. The French also are physically less buff compared to Englishmen and Germans.

Englishmen are quite pale with brown and dark brown hair being dominant among them. They predominantly have blue eyes. A very common look for Englishmen would be blue-eyed with dark brown hair.

Scots are probably blonder and more red-headed. The English also tend to have fuller faces.

Germans are a difficult bunch to judge. There are essentially two Germanies: North Germany which is very similar physically and genetically with Dutch and Belgians, and South Germany and Austria which are quite similar to the French.

My two cents would be that Germans tend to have more square facial features and narrower eyes. North Germans and Dutch-Belgians are quite blonde while South Germans have more brown hair.

It may be a flawed way of looking at things but for me I've always thought that just about every single European country outside of a few exceptions has a football team that, without any other context, you probably wouldn't be able to guess the exact origins of-- this is obviously true only of the European descended people and doesn't include all the Africans who are now in many European teams. There's so much overlap in the European phenotype.

I'd say Harry Kane is peak British Isles phenotype and a guy like Rabiot is ultimate Gaul phenotype but would either of them look out of place in the English or French team? I dare anyone who doesn't know anything about football to try and test themselves to just look at a team picture of the Russian national team and say the Welsh one and genuinely be able to tell the difference. I can't. Try doing the same with the Romanian team and the Italian one.

    The way I see it, Slavic men fall into one of two phenotypes:

    a) Fat, pudgy faces.

    b) Square, killer-like faces. I swear half the Russian men look like they'd beat you to death for glancing at their sister.

    Bronze age pervert is probably the only handsome Russian man who doesn't look like a killer. He has a friendly face.

    That is true. Slavic women are some of the most beautiful women on the planet, but the men...not so much. It's obviously clear why many Slavic women prefer Western white men.

    There are distinct visual differences between ethnicities that sorta give away a person heritage (sometimes, at least). They're very hard to describe accurately but I think your descriptions hold. I can often estimate someone's ancestry but I've never put it to the test really. Sometimes it's VERY obvious (Hmm, I wonder where that redhead with the freckles and paper-white skin is from, what a stumper!) whereas others not so much. It's also easier among better-looking people, for whatever reason.

    I would say Saxons/Germans/Norse people have somewhat more square, severe features, Anglos/Anglo-Saxons have a more rounded/oval element to them (this goes doubly so for Irish/Scots). I can think of many others but they are difficult to describe in a manner linguistically distinct from my descriptions of the others.

    Body type is also something of a tell, with Germans obviously tending to be taller and Meds being shorter and stockier. Body type varies greatly with genetics, nutrition, and health though obviously so it's not always a good predictor.

    Being an Amerimutt also complicates matters as there's a sort of phenotype associated with Amerimutts too, which is sort of a mix of multiple European types/somewhat generic as one might expect.

    How mixed are White Americans outside of the major coastal states/cities?

    It seems (to me, as someone not from the US) that there's an obvious Germanic/Nordic look in many white Americans from states like the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Tennessee etc.

    I was in TN and remember seeing a lot of white mothers with blond(e)-haired kids somewhere outside of Nashville.

    My understanding of US immigration history (between the 1840s - 1920s or thereabouts) is that the Irish, Italians, Polish, Jews, etc tended to congregate in ethnic neighbourhoods in NYC, NJ, Philly and Chicago, whereas immigrants from Scandinavia and Germany were more inclined to move out West and spread out. I know there were cohesive German communities, where German was spoken etc, but WW1 sort of killed that off.

    I used to be under the impression that it was trendy in the US to be of Irish or Italian stock, but apparently that's mainly just a NYC/NJ/Boston thing that's been overemphasized in popular culture due to things like The Sopranos, Jersey Shore, and so on. At least according to /r/AskAnAmerican on Reddit.

    I live in the Midwest (Ohio specifically) and a lot of the Whites I've seen are quite obviously mostly/completely White. Whites of Germanic descent, made obvious by surname and/or phenotype, are very common and the rest I'd say are probably Anglo or of indeterminable White admixture.

    The French and the English are actually very similar. They're both a mixture between Celtic and Germanic peoples. The difference however is that Great Britain - because it's an island - probably has experienced more inbreeding than France. The average Frenchman is definitely better looking than the average Englishman. Another difference is that during the 19th century France has had a major migrant influx from Italy and Spain, but they've completely assimilated. They're now as French as you can possibly be, which is obviously an impossibility for Arabs or negroes.

    Germans on the other hand also have significant Slavic ancestry. They're not entirely Germanic. They never were actually. They've always had Celtic roots as well.

    England produces some of the most handsome men in the world: Henry Cavil, Sam Claflin, Robert Pattinson, and Pierce Brosnan to name a few. I can't recall a single French man that has anywhere near that level of craze or handsomeness.

    There are just as many famous beautiful actresses and models from Britain. The "British women are ugly" is a stupid stereotype and you know it based on nothing considering Australia is often associated with hot women despite being almost all descendants from the British Isles.

    Britain does seem to have an usually amount of very ugly people compare to other nations but at the same time have just as many attractive people as most other European nations.

    Admixture makes for little distinctions, such as the way that her eyes are set in her skull, and maybe I'm wrong about that but patterns, etc. She looks some flavor of slavic to me with the shape of her jawline and eyes though, and nothing like her very English looking parents. Her grandmother is Polish-Jewish, so I guess that's where the features come through, then I assume admixture softens everything out more.

    Just an observation: British women from middle-class backgrounds are often quite beautiful and feminine, but the working-class ones tend to be rough looking. It doesn't help that obesity is pretty prolific among working-class Brits.

    Go to popular holiday resorts in Spain during the summer, you will see a lot of genetic trash from the UK (to be brutally honest), male and female alike. If you didn't believe in physiognomy, you'll definitely believe in it after.

    Keep in mind that class in the UK is different to the US, it's not just an economic construct, but largely based on heritage.

    AFAIK, most Germans descend from the ancient Germanic tribes that fought with Rome. East Germans have Slavic ancestry because that region was the last to be conquered by the HRE in the 11th century. The sorbs and Pomeranians used to live in the land we know as East Germany.

    The rest of Germany never had any Slavic settlement. Perhaps some Poles settled in the Ruhr in the 19th century to mine coal.
