It WOULD be interesting to compare a poor white enclave (West Virginia, for ex) and a ghetto (nw Mississippi).

Well for one West Virginia has one of the highest rates of poverty of any state in the US yet its crime rate is below average for the country. West Virginia is a good antidote to the standard leftist tripe about poverty and poverty alone being the main causal factor in crime rates.

My position is that intelligent people flee ghettos, leading to a long term decline in IQ scores in the ghetto. So, in a sense, it’s both genetics and environment, as low IQ people breed while living in a terrible place.

I agree and find it frustrating that people can't get their head around the fact that people with inherently poor attributes CREATE the poverty and social pathologies around them the social pathologies and poverty doesn't create them. It reminds me of the argument about lead exposure causing Black crime and low IQ's. Does anyone ever think to themselves well maybe people who are too stupid in the first place are more likely to expose themselves to harmful situations where lead intake is more likely? If you found a study that showed that Black people were doing so poorly because they repeatedly hit themselves with hammers and it lowers their mental capacity wouldn't the next question necessarily be 'Well what kind of person is stupid enough in the first place to repeatedly take a hammer to their head?'
