Environment, Genetics, Both?

Lots of academics argue this point and I’m interested what the people here think on the topic.
My position is that intelligent people flee ghettos, leading to a long term decline in IQ scores in the ghetto. So, in a sense, it’s both genetics and environment, as low IQ people breed while living in a terrible place.

It WOULD be interesting to compare a poor white enclave (West Virginia, for ex) and a ghetto (nw Mississippi).

Thoughts anyone?

Already been done. Lowest SES White students score on par with the highest SES blacks students for SAT scores. This shows that blacks are being artificially boosted above their actual capabilities on the backs of Whites. Been known for decades.

While wasting my time reading Reddit, someone posted a River map of Africa. No one thought to point out that the major rivers don’t connect, hindering commerce and growth. The rivers also have falls near where they empty into oceans, again hindering commerce. For these and many other reasons, Africa is a ghetto continent. The smart ones drift away and became Whites, East Asians, and so forth. The stupid ones stayed behind and gave us our wonderful ghetto dwellers today.

Let's be honest though there's a million ways still to overcome the point you make about rivers but sub-saharans never bothered to address the issue. I think there's scant evidence of any sea fishing for sub-saharans as well. Arabic people crossed over from the Arabian peninsula and left their genetic mark. Madagascar was settled by sea faring Austronesians who sailed half way across the world. Even the inward looking Chinese managed to make it to North America. Nothing need be said of European exploration efforts. Blacks just sat there for aeons doing from what we can tell next to nothing of interest. Aboriginals in Australia too. I'm a 'racist' and even I find myself shocked when you discover the lack of ingenuity on that continent. (North Africa obviously doesn't count.)

To your point it's obviously both but there's no environment that can make you exceed your genetic potential there's only environments that allow you to fulfill it. That's why things like epigenetics have become such a popular pop-science topic because they lend themselves to the idea of large scale malleability of humanity which just doesn't seem to be true. Much like Lysenkoism in the Soviet Union egalitarians always fall for these goofy ideas that they can just radically change human nature and cancel 50,000 years of separate evolution with their 'science'.

In my opinion to a large degree you're born to be what you are and you better bloody get used to that fact or you'll live in perpetual misery. Willpower is real, the human spirit is real but so is biology.

I have read that Central Africans never had wheels nor a written language. They’re basically apes with a little smattering of more intellect. How such beings adapt to first world economies in any way is a mystery. Notice how any black who accomplishes any intellectual endeavor appears to have some white ancestry.

      Well for one West Virginia has one of the highest rates of poverty of any state in the US yet its crime rate is below average for the country. West Virginia is a good antidote to the standard leftist tripe about poverty and poverty alone being the main causal factor in crime rates.

      I agree and find it frustrating that people can't get their head around the fact that people with inherently poor attributes CREATE the poverty and social pathologies around them the social pathologies and poverty doesn't create them. It reminds me of the argument about lead exposure causing Black crime and low IQ's. Does anyone ever think to themselves well maybe people who are too stupid in the first place are more likely to expose themselves to harmful situations where lead intake is more likely? If you found a study that showed that Black people were doing so poorly because they repeatedly hit themselves with hammers and it lowers their mental capacity wouldn't the next question necessarily be 'Well what kind of person is stupid enough in the first place to repeatedly take a hammer to their head?'

      little kids would eat lead paint chips, apparently it is tasty, little kids won't know any better. But yes shouldn't there parents be watching them and if they see them eating paint chips scold them? Not if the parents are terrible, not around, or just don't care. You can get rid of lead in paint but then they will be on to the next stupid habit which is to their detriment.

      In general, both. IQs and things are obviously genetic, and culture being heavily tied to race sorta puts it in the middle, while parents and drugs and the like would be environmental.

      A White kid will usually have a higher IQ than a black one, but if that White kid lives in a trailer park, has addicts for family, becomes an addict, etc. they are more likely to commit crimes than a White kid who doesn't have those negative influences.

      Of course, many of those negative influences are the direct result of Jewish meddling and trickery, so if those things are removed form the equation Whites will achieve much higher potential.

        This is what social scientists (mostly Leftists) can’t admit for fear of losing jobs, tenure, and being ostracized: the extreme ‘Environment Only’ runs the show. Anyone going near genetics is called a racist. Leftists have tried to buy off black people by providing safety nets but we saw how that’s never enough. Then they told them that YT is oppressing them so they burned down their cities. Now their trying to inculcate guilt in white children with CRT. I don’t think the Leftists are going to get the outcome they desire.
