That aside, this really brought up a huge debate about "punching up" and "punching down" in comedy. What would you say about this across the board?

It's just a retarded, philistine and anti-art attitude that reduces all comedy -- and art itself generally -- to merely some aborted form of class struggle. I would argue there's no explicitly political great art though there's meta-political great art.

You don't have to punch up, down or sideways to be funny and different people have different ideas of who they consider sacred, oppressed or otherwise.

The bottom line is that all art and comedy that is too political is garbage. Steven Crowder is utter garbage for the same reason current Stephen Colbert or Jamie Kilstein is. Because in all cases any sensitive person knows they're witnessing a struggle session and not a comedian. The art is smothered by the agenda and consumes it.

The request -- hell let's call it what it is it's a demand -- that all comedy MUST comply to some pre-approved structure where the comedian has to structure his act so it conforms with only joking about things which the left consider fair game and never attacking those that are by their logic oppressed is interesting for two reasons. First: It's usually those who aren't talented and who aren't even in the same league as people like Chappelle and Louis CK demanding they 'be better' and comply with their demands. In other words it's a form of competitive jealousy and resentment. Second which is related to the first: A lot of the people who play this game target it at talented newcomers in the field who they dislike, politically disagree with and couldn't be happier to see black listed. Sam Hyde comes to mind as a great example of this.

Do you like Death in June or Der Blutharsch? If so, is that too political? What about Leni Riefensthal's work in the 30s. Jud Suess is notorious but it is actually a very well made film. I have posted queries on historical message boards inquiring in what what way the caricature of Jued Suess Oppenheimer is underhanded or inaccurate, no one can articulate exactly why.

Some of the Nazi era paintings were not all that great but some were.

Reifenstahl is an exception because her technique overshadows the politics -- funnily enough I credit Triumph Of The Will as being a large part of why I became Dissident Right.

I get what you mean though. Perhaps it's better to say that genius can transcend naked ideologically driven works but any less than genius and the work becomes sour. Eisenstein would be another example I guess of a filmmaker whose ability transcends his obvious political message.

I do think it is an exception. A lot of the neo folk martial industrial that is overtly na is not very good. There is also beauty, artists value in those works that transcends the politics, propaganda, and ideology. Do you like Death In June?

I'll have to check them out. Admittedly though a lot of 'our guy' stuff has left me unmoved. By that I mean I didn't like it or dislike it I just wasn't inspired by it. Laibach, Saga, Skrewdriver and others definitely have merit -- Ode To a Dying People still makes me teary eyed -- but I don't find myself gravitating towards the explicitly political and find the perennial much more interesting if that makes sense.

Only bother if you like indie, post pink, goth etc. If Joy Division or the Cure (through Disintegration) are not your thing, don't bother. It is not entirely settled that Douglas P is a Nazi, but he is certainly fascinated and even enamored with the time period. Some of his comments indicate things took a wrong turn after the Night of the Long Knives with murder of Ernst Röehm. Like Röehm, Douglas is also gay. Most of the later stuff is garbage. The Corn Years, Cathedral of Tears two best albums. Some good songs from Guilty Have No pAst and A (studio side) of Burial. Operation Hummingbird and Take Carr and Control were a return to form with a somewhat different sound with Albino Julius collaborating.

Joy Division is my all time favourite band so I'll have to have a listen.

If you were in my neck of the woods Iwould d buy you a drink. Be sure to adhere to y recommendations bc later DIJ stuff not all that great. O would start with Brown Book/ Corn Years. I first started listening to Joy Division when I was 14. I discovered Death inJune at sixteen, just after my German girlfriend flee bald to Germany. Was supposed to spend the summer off but she called it off at the last minute and in subsequent years she became enamored with "Jamaican" culture. Saw her again several years later she was unrecognizable, the symmetry of her face was disrupted. She told me it was from "schweren Drogen."

This is Europa: To Gates of Heaven.

By all means try and get better resolution, although the less than optimal sound engineering leads something to de desired on high resolution audio. Pm if you need help finding a way to sample it.

Also, Zimmerit, although very short probably more polished: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qyOb5CysYuU

Rose McDowell was the ultimate hot goth chick in her day, and it's pretty clear she always right-thinking and sympathetic tomcat right nationalism.

Incidentally, this may interest you. I actually wrote this, under the pen name Ian Carlyle, which was lost while being archived. Spencer is not admirable....
