He has been banned from appearing on his own nightly TV show by the broadcasting regulator, which appears to have invented a new rule just to silence him. And he’s been physically threatened. Yet he has practically doubled his support in less than a month, from 7 per cent to 13 per cent.

Marine Le Pen, who had been presumed the inevitable opponent of president Emmanuel Macron, is in free fall. During June she was polling as high as 28 per cent. Her support has collapsed to 16 per cent – awful news for Macron as she was always his preferred opponent. Zemmour is eating her campaign alive.

Where does that leave Macron? His opposition seems atomised. The polls, especially those based on hypotheses, are of only limited value. Abstentionism remains arguably the biggest party in France, which makes all forecasts treacherous. The friends of Zemmour suspect however they can mobilise hitherto ‘low-propensity voters’. If that’s true, Macron could find himself with a real challenge from the right.

My prediction of his rise seems to be spot-on. I now predict - if he runs of course - that he will in fact become France's next president. Yes, I think he'll beat Macron.

Why? France has the biggest nativist movement in the West. Nowhere in the Western world are our ideas as mainstream as they are in France. No other Western country has been able to resist Americanization to such an extent. Are you American?

I was being a bit sarcastic, didn't really expect this low-effort comment to be upvoted. But:

Their demographics aren't great and Le Pen hasn't won since I've cared and doesn't look she ever will. She's not as based as people make her out to be either. Then having a Jew undercut her as a further-right candidate going into round one is concerning and suspect. It's frankly embarrassing whites can't even stand up for themselves in their own homelands and need someone else to do it for it them. Maybe Zemmour is genuine, but I know better than to expect that. Macron will probably just win again

Yes, and the US is worse - but I've already given up on democratic solutions here. My understanding is Benelux is worse than France but still better than us

I dropped it for a while in annoyance of their covid counter signalling. But recently they've come around and taken the right position on vaccines.

Zemmour seems incredibly based to me, I find it even hard to believe he's been allowed to get this far. Also, good thing that he's replacing Le Pen, who has already demonstrated she isn't viable and has moved so much to the "center" that I don't even think it would be all that great to have her in power terms of cost-benefit, considering the backlash she would generate and the attrition the right-wing would inevitably take. I hope the Le Pen base completely switches over to Zemmour, as a divided right would be the worst-case scenario.

I have two questions pertaining to Zemmour, if OP or someone french could answer them it'd be appreciated: 1- How is the fact that he is an afro-jew perceived by the Marine Le Pen base, and do you think of it as a problem when considering whether or not to support him? 2- Economically speaking, would he be a classic free-market conservative or more Le Pen-style statist? I would assume that free-market economics could alienate some of the youth and white working class voters, while at the same time winning over some older people and cuckservatives.

Isn't he just in danger of splintering the NR vote? Got to say I'm quite sceptical about this zemmour phenomenon.

Also didn't we learn the lesson from Trump that as energizing and satisfying as these celebrity, outsider candidates are -- btw I'm not comparing the two men as zemmour is obviously a far superior person -- the real problem is if by some miracle they do get into office them actually finding capable people to fulfill their agenda? How many allies does zemmour really have to form a core of capable people?

Whatever you can say of NR at least they are an established party with divisions all over the country and would be able to man the institutions and offices that could make them a lasting and not a fleeting force.

100% agreed. People should be skeptical of throwing aside decades of work over what’s potentially just a celebrity fad. RN’s not perfect but they’ve been at this for a long time, have a huge support base & have got closer to winning the Presidency basically every election cycle. Should they win in 2022 or 2027 it would change Europe forever.

I’m very suspicious of throwing that away for this Jewish celebrity with no track record.

The NR is in free fall. The recent regional elections demonstrated that.

They lost some votes in one regional election (that they’ve always struggled with compared to the presidential). ‘Free fall’ seems a bit of an exaggeration. They’ve been around for a long time & hopefully will continue to do so. The worst thing that could happen would be this guy coming in & splitting the vote

Bad news is he is a Jew, good news is he is a Middle Eastern Jew. They don't have the same historical animosity toward European people and European nationalism as European Jews do. Middle Eastern Jews animosity is all directed at muslims.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he continues to grow in popularity. I am specifically interested in seeing how the rest of the West will react because if his support continues to grow he will start getting more attention outside of France. How will Jew media handle covering the new fascist boogie man when he is a Jew?
