I'm not anti-video games in principle, but one has to admit that they only serve as a major distraction from all the global events going on.

The biggest example? First person shooters. The U.S Army admitted they made great recruitment ads and yet invading Afghanistan/Iraq and Libya were all tremendous failures that created more "refugee" problems.

China has the right idea. Don't let future children get sucked into these time wasters or limit how much time they play. They should either be getting fit at the gym and trying to attract breeding partners, or studying for a serious profession that will make their nation powerful. Just sitting behind a monitor playing Fortnite all day is not going to make our countries advanced.

I'm a competitive guy so I've always played CoD, CS:GO, LoL etc to go against other people. I've mostly pirated single player games I want to play, and I don't buy in game lootboxes and all that shit.

I've always been like this though even before I was political I've always been kinda ascetic anti-consoomer. I've never really seen the point in cosmetics or actually paying for stuff I can steal. The only exception I have to this is buying physical books because as we all know, books are just funkopops for anti-semites.

Overall I would say yes, if you enjoy video games you should play them. If you don't want to support the poz just pirate their shit, and if you have a competitive nature you can't realistically play sports constantly. I guess you could play chess or something online as an alternative for at home competitive stuff. I'd just say go play a game of CS or whatever, nothing wrong with it imo.

Nah the alt right is mostly guys who were teenagers and early 20s in 2015/16. We're mostly the last stand of implicit millennial identity, and the oldest zoomers. If you did a poll I think 21-28 would be the biggest cluster.

I always preferred arena shooters so when FPS transitioned to imitating real life I lost interest. DOTA was best as a WC3 custom game because it was just a small piece of a larger, more-complex game. IMO, MOBAs are part-and-parcel of the industry-wide dumbing down of game mechanics as well as the push for micro-transactions.

If you enjoy challenging games try out Myth. There's no stiffer competition than the teams in the annual Myth World Cup which, is the longest running video-game tournament of all-time (99-21).

I've always played CoD

I stopped playing it after Call of Duty: World at War. That was over a decade ago now. Lol!

All things must be made political to purge wrong thoughts. Instead of fighting back (not counting Angry Goys I and II), the oppressed just flee to safe things to consume, like good consumer rabbits.

It's simple--don't buy modern games. If you aren't buying anything you aren't enriching the companies that push this bullshit.

Myth is 100% free and has ZERO advertisements and/or microtransactions. The community keeps Myth alive--no company/corporation is involved.

I don't enjoy video games as much as I did when I was a child/teenager, which is probably for the best. The only things I play now are a grand strategy now and then when listening to TDS or something

Most members of our community are likely in their 30s or 40s so there's a LOT more for us to enjoy when it comes to older/retro games because we can soak up nostalgia.

That describes me pretty well. I spent a fair amount of time playing video games in my early and mid 20s, but as the years went on, I spent less and less time playing. Part of it was because I didn't purchase the newer gaming systems (my most modern system is a PS3, and I only have a couple games for that). Part of it was because I got more involved in other stuff, like researching about conspiracys, geopolitics, wars, history, etc.

Once I was in my late 20s, video games didn't hold the same allure it did when I was younger. I was more mature by that point, and knew it was a distraction from my real life. Plus, I'd heard that alot of the new games were being ruined by progressive SJW shit. I only occasionally play games now. Sometimes I'll go retro on my PS2 and N64, and sometimes I'll play RTS games on the computer. (C&C and Red Alert are my favorite)

I don’t have the time to mess around playing video games personally. God I’m so tired…

If your hourly salary is $100 and you're giving a company $100 dollars, then you're basically giving them the power of 1 hour of your time.

[–]Nombre27 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's actually more because of the necessary time dedicated to gain the experience, education, and training that is required to reach a salary, i.e. the costs/expenses.

Don't forget that the average $100, AAA modern-game is only 50% complete. You'll need to drop at least another $100 on DLC to have the full experience. And you won't want your online character to look bland like he/she is wearing cardboard right? GOOD, because there's a fix and all it takes is a CC/PayPal and you'll be shooting your enemy in style with your new bedazzled hairdo and faux leather jumpsuit.

I can't believe someone else here played Myth II: Soulblighter. Nostalgia overload!!! Lol!

Anyway, I used to be a huge gamer, but in the last 6 years or so the only games I've played have been: Batman: Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, and The Last of Us Part II. I also still play the first Metal Gear Solid and The Last of Us from time to time.

[–]FrenologistSaving the World 1 Cranial Exam at a Time[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Myth is easily my favorite game of all-time. For me, nothing has ever come close to Myth MP.

[–]EthnocratArcheofuturist 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I love that game as well. The fuse between fantasy and horror was amazing. The soundtrack was also excellent. My favorite game of all time is The Last of Us, but before that it used to be Metal Gear Solid

I just finished a playthrough of M2 campaign on Legendary. It was nice to go back through it after many years. I was also brushing up on the maps because there are a number of co-op tournaments planned for the coming months.

Myth TFL/Myth II Soulblighter

It's apparently one of those "sorcery" games, like WOW, LOL, and all the rest of that crap. Garbage, imo. Do I sound biased?

https://www.moddb.com/mods/shattered-paradise

Shattered Paradise is an expansion for Tiberian Sun on OpenRA, it's goal is to (im)balance the game by adding new factions (Mutants, C.A.B.A.L. and Scrin) and reworking the original sides, all of this to create a game a little more varied and balanced than TS. The mod puts a lot of emphasis on making the factions as asymmetric as possible.

If you liked the C&C games, you'll love this free remake of Tiberian Sun.

Otherwise, it depends on how you define modern games, although my most played games are 8 to 12 years old. Civ6 is newer, but the original dates back to the 90s. Yes, it has that "climate change" bullshit, but mild amounts of that leftist/SJW poz can be useful to remind us of our enemies. On the DOTR, don't forget about the game corruptors.

I wonder if you would like Control. Female main character, but the setting has a lot of SCP-like creatures. There's a lot of discoverable items with descriptions, and you get to find leftover correspondences between the NPCs along with videos and various other really neat stuff that help to immerse. The soundtrack is pretty amazing too.

Control - Before You Buy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXH0v-t9Oz8

Looks interesting and fun. I'm looking at my list of favorite games, and they don't seem to fit any particular pattern I'm identifying. I do like open world games with no restrictions on how to play or what to do. But I also love strategy games like Civilization and the Command & Conquer series.

The female protagonist is a bit of a turn-off, as it's too unrealistic and seems like a forced SJW element. But I had a female as my second character in GTA on the PS3, and she was pretty cool. A couple actual females expressed jealousy that my female was hotter and prettier than theirs. lol

This game doesn't look like other things you've played in the past. As such we don't have much information on whether or not you might be interested in it

Steam is probably right. The supernatural element is not what I typically go for. I'm definitely more on the 'realistic', or hard science fiction side of things.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (12 children)

It's the discoverables that made it for me, but I eat that sort of shit up. Games like Bioshock and Dragon Age Origins are favorites, and had an absolute boatload along with a ton of other material to read to get different aspects of the story, or little pieces of information to build on. If you have different preferences, it might not be your bag, but if it ever goes on super sale I would recommend it just to sink a little time into and see if you like it. Your computer might shit itself though if you ran it on Steam. That's one for the PS.

[–]Node 2 insightful - 4 fun2 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 4 fun -  (11 children)

I got Bioshock on sale thinking it was a good deal for a classic, but after wandering around the city for a while, it just wasn't grabbing me.

Borderlands 2, and the presequel were a couple favorites, despite the butch lesbians in space bullshit. Didn't go for the third one because of that. Gameplay itself was pretty fun.

All the half life games were pretty great, and I could still play those when in a nostalgic mood.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (10 children)

Yeah, it starts off sort of slow at the very beginning. Once you start getting a few of the plasmids it becomes a lot more interesting.

To be fair, I couldn't deal with Borderlands. The new one looks like it could possibly be fun though.

[–]Node 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (9 children)

I'll keep Control in mind, but remember that I don't play more than 90% of the games I own, and haven't even touched any of those 2 free games per month from the Playstation online deal.

Maybe I'm just easily amused, but have put another 30-40 hours into minecraft this week.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Those free games are always poop though. I do the same thing, and have a small log of shit that I want to replay or even just play through at all. I'm not really a gamer by any stretch, and I've been putting things off during heavier study periods. It's harder to enjoy things that require mental investment when my brain's turned to kitty litter.

Did you ever try Monster Hunter World? It's got quite a lot of weapons that have a steep learning curve, but pretty fun. Fighting games?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Minecraft is good. It is easy to be amused playing Minecraft. I simply wish there was another game with less of a childish overhaul like Minecraft. Medieval Engineers is good if you just like to build castles.

[–]Node 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

If I had any interest in coding, I'd make some mods to bend minecraft to my will. I already ignore significant 'overhauls' of the game, like the End, for example. Haven't been to the End in years. Maybe 2017? Started playing about 3 weeks after xNotch started dev, so have seen a few changes along the way.

The new terrain generation looks like a winner, for the most part. What I would really like to see is villagers being more like real life people, having occupations, working on their village by building new houses, mining for resources, and even building roads to other villages for trade. Sort of like a cross between minecraft and civilization.

Doing all that for them is fun enough, but the game could become seriously addictive with smarter villagers.

Medieval Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering and building in medieval times. Platform: Microsoft Windows

Bummer. I've been boycotting the evil empire for decades, and have foregone playing many games in support of that boycott. I quit using skype when the evil empire purchased it, and don't know what I'm going to do if they force a minecraft account migration to their servers.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I respect your boycott. I haven't bought anything google or Microsoft related in years, but I still play plenty of things that are tied to it, because I got into them young.

Interesting that you like Minecraft, and that you have such great ideas for it. They have such a simple, great game. They are wasting time with their non-sandbox online kiddy-crap (you know, the pvp nonsense? Maybe you like that stuff, idk)

A few ideas like the one about the villagers, and you have a game that would simply keep on giving and giving.

Big civ fan here too. Been playing since the very first one and sunk way too many hours into that game. Have you played humankind? Was maybe going to have a look if it comes on sale.

[–]Node 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Between Civ5 and Civ6 I have about 5700 hours in, and probably at least as many in the previous iterations. Took me a while, though, to warm up to the climate change DLC, although I did finally get it.

Humankind looks interesting, but haven't looked too closely because of the whiffs of SJW leftism I've detected. Depends on the levels, I suppose. But I could wait a few years on getting a new game. There are only so many hours in a day, and I'm already only able to squeeze in a fraction of the gaming I'd like to be doing.

[–]FrenologistSaving the World 1 Cranial Exam at a Time[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

It's nothing like WoW or LoL... Frankly, there's probably never been a game before or since that is like Myth.

[–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Soulblighter is one of the most powerful of the Fallen Lords. Although not as well versed in magic as others such as the Deceiver or the Watcher,

It's literally a game about magic and monsters.

[–]FrenologistSaving the World 1 Cranial Exam at a Time[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I'm not sure what a, "Sorcery," game is. Do you think D&D is like these games? It has a fantasy setting and sorcery spells!

You mentioned WoW and LoL as games you believe are like Myth--none of those games are anything alike.

WoW is a MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game).

LoL is a MOBA (massive online battle arena).

Myth is a RTT (real time tactical).

Not only do each of these games have totally different characters, stories and lore but, they have completely different types of gameplay.

[–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

A "Sorcery" game is a game that involves the use of sorcery or magic.

WoW is a MMORPG

Containing sorcery or magic.

LoL is a MOBA

Containing sorcery or magic.

Myth is a RTT

Containing sorcery or magic.

While there may be superficial differences. they all contain sorcery or magic.

[–]FrenologistSaving the World 1 Cranial Exam at a Time[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

So based on that logic, D&D is exactly like those games and MTG is as well. They both contain, "Sorcery or Magic" so they must be exactly the same! It doesn't matter that one is a table-top game, one a card game and the others video games--they're all exactly the same! LMFAO!

[–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. All those games fall into the "Sorcery and/or Magic" category.
