He was not just based in Chicago, but also in one of the most liberal areas in the country

He stated on his Twitter that he had to keep his views secret in real life, and the fact that he had a Twitter at all suggests that he was looking for contact with sane people he just couldn't find IRL.

So he probably felt very isolated and might not have had even one non-woke friend or family member to turn to when everything went down.

a lot of assumptions

I think it's just one assumption: that he felt alone. To be fair I can't prove it, but it explains things.

Maybe antifa got him. I wouldn't even be against that theory, I just don't see any more proof for it. If he was standing firm, why close his accounts?

Fair point but not enough proof either way.
