Very impressive, although it remains to be seen to what extent this decision is enforceable.

Enforceability aside, it seems fairly arbitrary and unnecessary.

A state that promotes healthy living standards and implements mandatory physical exertion in certain forms would de facto eliminate excessive gaming.

Spiritually fulfilled men with the requisite physical engagement feel no urge to escape from reality.

Yes and no. No doubt there's some people in need of a digital detox, so weaning them off while simultaneously having them engage in spiritually fulfilling activities is probably a better way to have them straighten out.

We really do need a more Platonic upbringing, where corrosive and evil elements remain unknown and therefore are viscerally acknowledged as bad and to be avoided.

If you agree that the Chinese government should do something about digital distractions, what exactly do you find arbitrary about this? Their solution seems to cut right to the core of the issue.

One of the most terrifying things you will ever here in your life: I am from the government and here to help.

Sorry, we don't need Reagan quotes here.

I suppose it would depend on the government.

Overindulgence in “digital distractions” are a symptom of wider societal issues. This “solution” is the equivalent of placing a bandaid over a gunshot wound.

The three hour per week limitation is an arbitrary standard. Quite frankly, it is not a lot and appears like a scapegoat. More threatening is the dozens of hours wasted by almost everybody on various social media every week.

[–]NeoRail 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So you are proposing that they ban social media too?

Very impressive, although it remains to be seen to what extent this decision is enforceable.

The government doesn't need to enforce it to the letter. You underestimate the extent to which citizens will voluntarily follow the government's dictates if they respect that government, especially in a collectivist society like China. Even in the United States, there was a time when millions of Americans would voluntarily buy war bonds and ration their own household supplies just because the government said so. That would be unthinkable in modern-day America.

No, the Changs are right this time.

One of the most popular video games just inserted an entire Martin Luther King level for no other reason than to brainwash kids.

If you want a hobby, find something else. The money that goes into the game industry is just being used to attack Whites.

All video games are not the same. What, for example, is anti-White about Minecraft?

Was that necessary man? I'm pretty sure that's not allowed on the debate pyramid. If you have a point against him, then tell it specifically and not acting like a dickhead.

Probably my excessively high tolerance for bullshit. Although I finally activated my sock-block, so the height is not unlimited. rc isn't that bad, and that comment doesn't seem hostile or disingenuous. Plus I have a fairly strong interest in gaming.

Do you think rc is an infiltrator, or has nefarious intent?

I don't know what he is but he's talked about putting white people's brain inside negro bodies before. He just doesn't seem genuine.

On the surface, video games are not anti-white. But almost every video game publishers who funds them are involved in anti-white activism.

The only exception are East Asian Developers. But when they do bring their games to the West, they pander to them.

See for example, both Nintendo & Sony sending representatives to the Pride marches.

    https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/nintendo-supports-pride-day-play-it-proud-campaign/

    https://www.sony.com/en/SonyInfo/diversity/report/05_21.html

By the way, I've played video games since Atari & SEGA were household names, so I'm not actually some Boomer who is just screeching at them. But over time, even I began to notice the game industry is not what it use to be. It use to be about young adults making products that expressed their creativity. But unless you're Asian, it's completely subverted now so that Feminists, BLM & LGBT now push their activists on the the entire development team. On top of pushing blatant money grabbing schemes like lootboxes and microtransactions. If you don't watch your kid, they'll use your credit card to start gambling.

    [–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, I've played video games since the Pong machine appeared in the pinball gaming place, so I'm actually some Boomer who has tens of thousands of hours into them. As you describe, most games are shit. On my Steam list, only a handful have more than a thousand hours in them, rapidly dropping off to minutes after the first 10 or so.

It's pretty much like anything, where you need to have standards and stick to them. Just because a new game comes out is no reason to feel like it needs to be played.

My son plays Squad, and although he has to use the OS from the evil empire to do so, the game itself doesn't seem all that corrupted.

ok then the state should ban certain video games instead

I have very positive view of China and direction they are headed.

I found this post on /pol/, I can't confirm if this is true, but if it is, it's definitely something I'd support here as well (which is a fantasy, because unlike us, China is ruled by Chinese and it has degree of independence).

    [–]Node 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

#6 is where they start going really wrong. Paying people to help exacerbate the overpopulation problem will lower the chances of our species surviving after we hit the wall.

Otherwise, generally good policies when the population level is sustainable.

    [–]radicalcentristNational Centrism 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

China's problem is not overpopulation, but the gender ratio.

They aborted too many girls in the past, so they could have strong Men to do physical labor. But now anytime a Man tries to date a girl, she sets her standards way too high for him. Because the demand is higher than the supply of vaginas.

    2021** 1,408,090,000

Looks like they have 'roughly' 1.2 billion excess people. Perhaps more when you consider the uninhabitable areas.

China has a similar problem to the West. Most of those people are getting old in age, and not enough children are there to replace them.

There are too many humans who want to live in the industrial hellhole these cultists are making. It makes it hard for the rest of us who actually want a clean environment and nice things.

Lucky for the Chinese though, they have lots of mountains to seek refuge in when shit hits the fan. I can imagine them milling like ants to such places

I wish this happened to me when I was a kid or even teenager. I've played video games for most of my life and it undoubtedly caused a lot of problems for me.

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

That sounds like you need to build up the willpower to put the controller down, not have the government mandate some draconian shit on the rest of us.

    You are correct.

    [–]JuliusCaesar225Nationalist + Socialist 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

While I think overuse of internet is an issue and has negative effects on the brain, especially for young people, I don't think videos games are the primary issue. I don't think of it as much different than watching movies or TV. Social media usage and surfing the internet all day is a far worse influence. It destroys memory and attention span.

    [–]DisgustResponse 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The derealization and depersonalization from video games is on a whole different level. And online games especially are designed to be played ad infinitum.

    [–]TheJamesRocket 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    Misleading title.

This isn't a solitary ban on video games, this is part of a much broader plan to combat declining fertility. All of these measures are sensible and practical. They will probably go some way to help propping up Chinas declining birth rates. If we weren't ruled by a hostile elite, we would be seeing similar measures here in the West.

However, a major factor influencing fertility is urbanisation and the cost of living. In urban areas with high population density and high cost of living, couples have fewer children. If China really wanted to fight their declining birth rates, they would focus on cheap housing in the countryside.

As an ex-teen myself (haha), I'm 22 now and I can tell you I spent too much time on videogames. I don't think the games themselves are bad, rather it's that opportunity cost you're giving up. So, I could have been studying, or working out, or pursuing a hobby instead of gaming.

I'm not sure what number gaming should be limited to specifically, I just think that one should be focused more on other things. Lacking those things makes you less competent, less interesting, less skilled. So definitely help control your child's gaming, but the emphasis should be on giving them something to do, rather than just taking their gaming away.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe this is because these kids are playing online games where they interact with foreigners in an uncensored manner, and that is no good for the CCP. I don't know the numbers on online Chinese gamers though, or if there are many, which games they play.

But I see a lot of surreal and hopeful conversations when I play online games, mixed in with the worst toxicity from both sides.

Although video game addiction is a social cancer, this is a dumb and lazy move. I expected more from the "high-IQ" chinese. You never give people freedoms and comfort to then suddenly take them away, especially using such an unsophisticated, crude edict. Good way for the CCP to alienate these young men.
