My black cat was a big, poofy baby. I snagged him from a friend's apartment complex nearly 20 years ago, and while he was fully equipped to be an absolute cunt, he didn't use those claws on me unless he was getting a bath (and I forgot to trim his beastly talons), or he saw feet wiggle under the blanket. Just keep their claws trimmed a little, neuter them early, and don't put up with their shit. Black male cats>nearly any female cats.

One of my black mice is the sweetest and most curious of the bunch. She doesn't give a shit about anything, and is always really excited to see me and climb all over.

Kinda a silly post but coloration has been observed to affect behavior, i.e. torties are known for being annoyingly vocal.

Are Tuxedo cats prone to violence?

Does melatonin induce rage?

Its melanin and yes actually melanin in mammalian species is associated with aggression. Google it.

I wonder if albino blacks are less aggressive than other blacks then. Lol.

I know that sounds a bit crazy but I was thinking the exact same thing.

The point of a forum is discussion, it's not a substitute for a search engine.

I just meant google the link between melanin and aggression in the animal world. It's well documented and studied.

Mixed breeds are of course prettier and smarter, but some of them act as though they're well aware of it.

I have five cats right now and my all-black one is by far the sweetest of the group. Extremely friendly and extremely attached: she greets me when I come home, comes in to cuddle early in the morning, requests pets before eating and even prefers to be pet while eating, often follows me from room to room. She's a total sweetheart. At some point I'd like to do the cat DNA test because I think she might be part Bombay, a breed noted for their loyalty and affection.

Growing up I had an all-black male cat who was very tribal. He loved us but hated strangers and most other neighborhood cats.
