You said that post war SS officers who worked with the soviets were standard hitlerists. Well Hitler despised the Soviet Union and saw it as the ultimate Jewish abomination. Hence his commissar order and general brutality towards Soviet peoples.

If SS members during the cold war were financed by the Soviets then they were either shills or useful idiots. The Soviets did not finance them to bring about white revolution in the west and create a National socialist state. If they funded them it was solely to destabilize western countries and make them easier to dominate or invade. This is nothing new. The US during the cold war often funded marxists in order to destabilize a country and prepare the ground for a military coup.

Poland lost 6 million people in WW2. 3 million were Jews and the other three million were ethnic poles. They were killed in a deliberate policy of starvation and mass murders. Ukraine lost 8 million people, again mostly due to deliberate starvation. The Germans took 5 million Soviet prisoners yet only 2 million of them survived. Tell me, why did the compassionate white nationalists of the reich kill 3 million slavic men who had surrendered to them?

The Germans committed hundreds if not thousands of massacres in the USSR and Poland, too many to count. On Septermber 23rd, 1942, German occupation forces shot to death 2800 people in 21 Ukrainian villages, including 1600 children.

When the Germans first entered the Soviet Union, they were hailed as liberators by the local people, who had been oppressed for years by communism. Yet, within a year, the whole population turned against them and began a ferocious guirella campaign. Why? Its because of these attrocities and the German starvation policy. It could not afford a colonial empire due to British domination of the seas so it needed a contigious land empire. Germans were to colonize these lands after conquest. This process was already underway in Poland as the Hitler regime settled 500,000 Germans in Poland. There was perfect logic to these actions. Germany did need land and resources in order to be a truly sovereign world power and eastern Europe was the logical choice. Slavs were a hinderance to this objective.

That's interesting to hear. Because on January 1st, 1945, there were 224 German divisions on the Eastern Front against the communists and 50 German divisions on the Western front against capitalists. During the war, Hitler repeatedly wanted make separate peace and an alliance with alliance with Britain and take on the Soviets together. He refused to make a separate peace with the Soviets.

One could almost think that Hitler saw the Soviets as the greater enemy and wanted to ally with the British. If he saw the Anglo-American capitalists as the greater threat, it would make sense for him to divert most of his army to the west and delay allied advance and let Germany fall mostly into the hands of the Soviets.

Where one side is the side of light, the good guys who did no wrong and the other is the side of satan. In reality, the world wars where simply another intra european war, in the same vein as the thirty years war, the war of the spanish succession, the seven years war and the French revolutionary wars. In the 30 years war it was the habsburg empire, in the spanish succession war and Napoleonic wars this was France, in the world wars it was Germany. The world wars were more devastating because they were fought in an age of industrialization.

People at the time saw it as just another great power conflict.
