Sure they could. Millions of Europeans who came to the US with nothing besides their family and culture created the wealthiest nation in the world almost entirely through their own labour in a wilderness with no infrastructure, development, and often surrounded by mostly hostile natives. The majority never needed or benefited from POC labour. The Southern slave system primarily benefited only the elite (plantation owners and to a lesser extent the coastal merchant class) and the capital derived thereof was mostly reinvested into the plantation system until it was destroyed in the civil war. The rest of black history is sharecropping and scab labour (along with Asian and later Latino immigrants) during the "Great" migration.

Understanding the reality of historical labour isn't a narrative. The idea that a bunch of slaves concentrated on Southern plantations was necessary, needed, or improved in any significant the majority populations material situation is fantasy. At best a small trickle down profit benefitted a few urban centers via the mercantile class and the Southern families that owned one or two slaves directly benefitted from that labour. And after the accumulation of capital concentrated into that system was destroyed those labourers were nothing but scabs that suppressed Northern whites already developed industrial labour markets.

Any realistic look at the North American labour market is quite depressing for POC. In exchange for enriching a few elite whites, the rest of white society endured a racial plague.

BIPOC said "no more", and y'all reacted with rage, because your success is built on our exploitation. And without that, you lose your privilege. America belongs to the Black and Indigenous. We're just taking back what's rightly ours.

Even if you could, you will only create an uglier, stupider, and more violent society to live in and North America will tumble into the dustbin of history as so much racial garbage.
