Claim: Crime plummeted as America browned

No it didn't. The opposite is true. America was 88% white until hart-cellar. Violent crime soared in the decade following hart-cellar and the civil rights act and stayed at that level for two decades. It finally made significant movement downward in the mid 1990's due to changes in law enforcement techniques and now its increasing again.

We should only use the murder rate to measure violent crime. No other violent crime statistics should be considered because they are too easily manipulated and also are a function of reporting. Murder rates are hard to manipulate for the obvious reason that dead bodies have to be mostly accounted for.

Secondly, fluctuations in the violent crime rate are entirely dependent on the change in behavior of young black and hispanic men. Other groups don't commit enough violent crime or vary enough to move the needle.

Tldr: The end of legal racism and control over blacks resulted in a two decade long crime spree by blacks.

Crime spiked dramatically in the 70's and peaked in the early 90's and then started decreasing. There are a lot of theories why, some have suggested that the legalization of abortion in the early 70's prevented a lot future criminals from being born. Perhaps more technology like the internet has also had an effect.

Unlike in Europe, crime is not a huge issue in regards to immigration in America. Hispanics have higher crime rates than whites but it is not that significant. Surprisingly Muslims in America don't cause much problems unlike the ones in Europe. Same could be said about the small amount of black African immigrants America has.

America's crime issue has always been its black population who are not immigrants. Black Americans have always had huge crime rates but it decreased during the 90's and 2000's. Now it looks like it is spiking again.

If blacks and Hispanics commit crime at higher rates per capita, and there are more of them living here now, how can this be the case?

How about they changed the definition of crime? Like in California, they made shoplifting legal.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-prop-47-shoplifting-theft-crime-statewide

Same with New York City. Bank robber was arrested but then immediately released, and robbed another bank.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/19/nyregion/bank-robber-bail-reform-nyc.html

So there can't be any crime.... because they stopped recording it. Kinda like South Africa to be honest. There's a ton of murders that never get reported but the Police don't do anything about it.

Hmm I’m not sure how statistically significant this is. It probably makes a difference but a smaller difference. Seems like only petty crime can be brushed off. Interesting to note though.

Well here's the kicker. It can be significant because the same "woke" Left uses them to prove that systematic racism is everywhere.

For example, using New York again, there was a huge problem when it to came to fare evasion for the public transit. 90% of all those caught evading fare were black. How did the Left respond? Rather than say it's their fault, they call for the complete abolishment of making it a crime. And this phenomenon can be observed in other states. When a statistic looks disproportionately black, the solution they believe, is to just make it all free.

That should be the solution period, no need to have to use race as an excuse

It costs money to operate public transit. Either that money comes out of increasing taxes, or the system goes bankrupt.

White flight immediately following the 70s left some negros with a shrinking victim pool. Relatedly, self-re-segregation reduces social friction.

Crime against illegals and illegal-adjacents goes largely unreported.

High time preference makes all our electric doo-dads more entertaining, leaving less energy for aggression and offense.

Leaded gasoline. I don't buy it, but it's funny if you can get someone to agree, and then work through the implications.

Pride in local governments completely captured by illegals and negros. Plus all the widest streets, biggest "community" funds transfers, declining to prosecute crime, and the other tribute a conquering army demands.

But really? The 1970s were an anomaly in war, weather, monetary policy, and "social democracy." It can't be compared directly to later. The draft came to a head and disappeared. Oil went through terrible shocks, then became plentiful. The gold standard died and fiat money eventually found its place in the market. All the feminist and civil rights tropes carried from the 60s quickly wore thin when real war and poverty were tapping at the door.

I understand that since the 1970s or so, crime and violent crime has decreased sharpl

No it didn't. Violent crime started falling since the 90s. And even now there is higher murder rate than in 1950s. So no, it adds up.

Crime is still higher than the 1950s. Immigration act of 1965 ruined USA

I understand that since the 1970s or so, crime and violent crime has decreased sharply

I'm not sure if that's true, but in any case it was probably higher during the crack epidemic of the 1980s. Regardless

If blacks and Hispanics commit crime at higher rates per capita

This is just a fact [1], [2], [3]
