Honestly, I don't think it was. At least not compared to anything subsequent presidents have done. Obama illegally spied on Trump's presidential campaign and this isn't even talked about. Nothing has happened or will happen to him for it. Then when you consider all the other heinous things presidents have done, Watergate just doesn't seem like a big deal at all. Illegal/immoral, sure, but just not that bad in the grand scheme of things. But it was apparently so bad at the time that Nixon willingly resigned over it - despite being one of the most popular presidents up until that point

Regardless if subsequent presidents have committed worse crimes, isn't spying in this way a dishonest and crooked act?

The first time it happens: large scandal. Fourth time?: Old news, "they've" been doing this all along. NSA, UFOs ..
