Was going to question the Europe being more developed part, but I stopped and thought for a moment. I compare Bavaria where I live with Brandenburg and yes you seem to be right. However any countru you visit your going to have the same issues north or south. München has much higher crimes than my town of Poing and where just 15 miles apart in the same state, the huge difference being culture. SO I suspect culture has a lot to do with Cultural imperialism.

I used to live in army barracks up in Aschaffenburg back in the 70s. The Fulda Gap was our section of the border area to defend. 2.56 Marks to the Dollar back then.
