Most southerners opposed 1962 civils rights act

Only 24% of southern whites, but 61% of non-southern whites, approved of the 1964 civil rights act. As a whole, 59% of Americans (including non-whites) approved of the bill. Black Americans, on the other hand, overwhelmingly supported the legislation, with 96% approving of the law.

The 4% did their best. It shows that America needed its own Black Hitler back then who could have kept the masses in check.

I'm sure nearly every American would have voted against Hart-Celler if given the chance, and most Jews would have voted for it.
