The Russians do not seem to posses what we would define as a 'racial identity.' Many Russian teenagers do not even identify as Europeans.

The Russians do not seem to posses what we would define as a 'racial identity.'

This is true everywhere.

Many Russian teenagers do not even identify as Europeans.

This is also true, but discourse on Europe is complicated in Russia. For centuries and up to the present day, in Russia "Europe" and Westernisation mean more liberalism, more progressivism and more anti-nativism. Take Navalny as an example if you like, he is popular in the West and is the most "pro-European" politician in Russia.

No, it isn't.

What do you mean?

About all countrys not possessing a racial identity. This is objectively false.

What country has racial identity as a major component of its politics or society? As far as I am aware, the only reference to race that you will find in world politics today is in regard to minority rights. North Korea is the only major exception that I can think of.

Is it really any surprise that ethno-nationalism is the norm across the world, and throughout history? Racial identity is critical to the formation and maintenance of nation states.

I assumed you were talking about the present day, not the distant past. If you claim that racial identity is the norm across the world and throughout history, I am not sure how you have arrived to the conclusion that Russia is any different historically.
