Things have gone off the rails in the cultural sphere in the last 4 years. We are dealing with a wave of child transgenderism and satanic transvestites are out in force spewing their venom. In this context, I'm not surprised "gay marriage" now sounds like something benign to most conservatives.

Think the normies will put two and two together and figure out if we did not tolerate gay marriage this other shit would still be way beyond the limits of borderline, deviant behavior?

The Republicans were never willing to draw a line in the sand. They never had the moral courage or mileu control to stand up to Democrats. The Republicans were always willing to compromise and 'meet them halfway', which enabled societys rapid drift to the far left.

In the end, they conserved NOTHING.

Absolutely. We can attribute a number of different things to that. I think one thing is that to the extent the GOP gives lip services about cultural issues, it is tailored to the religious right in this country. The argument against gay marriage needed to be a lot more than "against religious principles." There are sophisticated, intellectual, secular arguments against gay marriage. Patrick Moynihan (old school democrat) popularized term "defining deviancy down." Judge Bork talks about something called the Durkheim Constant in Slouching Towards Gomorrah. This type of argument needed to be deployed if there were any hope of stopping the LGBTQ mafia

Another problem is so many just accepted, without challenge, the notion that gays are born that way. Genetics are at times a factor, particularly with men. But human sexuality is fluid, especially women. This is proven by rising prevalence of bisexuality in women as our "culture" becomes more pornographic, the phenomenon of formerly straight or bi women going lesbian later in life (see eg Kate Pearson). Men are not immune either, as proven by prevalance of homosexuality/bisexuality in men in the ancient world.
