I moved to Commifornia over thirty years ago from the Midwest. I moved here to get away from the snow and cold, to have access to the Neijia martial arts (only karate and judo classes where I lived), and for public transit (no buses or even taxi back there). I accomplished all those goals, but it came at a price. The leftist-libtard people here suck, which means not even casual 'friends', which means I have had to adopt to life as a recluse. Not a big deal after the first couple years of withdrawal that comes from termination of social contact, and conversion from extrovert to introvert.

I'm not "forced" to live here. I could move out of Commifornia anytime I want. I live a spartan lifestyle (once called 'voluntary simplicity'), have few possessions, and what I do have are mostly expendable. While there is no longer any need to attend martial arts classes, I still like the weather, and still need buses or taxi to get around, so I have no plan to leave. Being over sixty, my time is short, and I see no obstacle to finishing up here. As for being "resistant to the society around them", I have never been open to the society here. I was, am, and will likely die a 'long haired country boy' as Charlie Daniels Band once put it. Nothing has changed in the three decades I been here, other than the leftist-libtards did push me from being an Independent/Centrist toward the alt-right. So I guess any change has not been to the liking of the local commies and socialists.
