      I agree. It's a profoundly white sub-culture not just in terms of those who practice it but also just that extremely white obsession with tragedy.

      Joy division is my favourite band too. I probably should have gone through a Goth phase bit never got round to it.

      Every goth I knew in school were pretty based. Maybe there's a goth to 3p pipeline, that would be pretty cool.

      1. The word "Gothic" still refers to a historical people, an architectural style, etc.

      2. The media didn't invent Goth subculture.

      3. Goths have never been popular with the media, so if anything has overwritten the old meaning of the word "Goth", it would not be the media.

      4. The title you have chosen for your post is especially boomerish given the content of the post.

      I learned about the goth subculture from the media and hollywood movies.

      If you type gothic into bing, you get 90% pictures of vampirelike stuff. Changing the meaning of words is one of the ways they subvert us.

      What is the term for when you have 1 word and you change the meaning of that word into the opposite or something else? Or when you have 1 word and you change the context for that word giving it a new meaning/understanding?

      Native American used to be synonym with white American. Gothic used to be a Christian zealot. Now it is a satanist.
