The Ukrainian puppet government is batshit insane, considering it's riddled with Jews who are in the pockets of the USA I think they wouldn't think twice before sacrificing the bulk of the Ukrainian population just to provoke the hated Russians into an invasion, as by doing so they would force NATO to rally in their favour and so destroy any possibility of reconciliation between Europe and Russia in the near future.

There are no good ways out of this situation. Let's just remember what this is the result of: the murderous, slavophobic Bolsheviks' genocide against Ukrainians as well as Liberal-backed "nationalist" brainwashing of the Ukrainian youth, who now genuinely believe they are westerners and not a part of Russian civilization, despite all evidence of the contrary. It surely doesn't help that Russia keeps idolizing their bleak Soviet past and the bloodthirsty psychopath Stalin.

I think the plans are less diabolical. Anatoly Karlin has the best analysis of the situation. Ukraine gains transit fees worth 3 billion every year due to gas lines going from Russia to Europe. If Nord Stream 2 is opened, it loses all this money. Its the same reason Poland and the baltic states are hugely butthurt about NS2.

Zelenskey most likely wanted to fight a limited war in Crimea and the Donbass. One just large enough to draw Russian forces into open combat. They would then pause and the Russian intervention would provide the US to lobby even stronger against NS2.

Germany would be under immense pressure then to cancel NS2. That's why Ukraine mobilized its forces first and laid out a memo stating that they would retake Crimea by force.

Putin counteracted that by moving massive Russian forces to the Ukrainian border. He made it visible for all to see the huge buildup. In modern times, masssing a 107,000 troops and 1300 tanks requires a large logistical effort.

The implicit threat to Zelenskey was that if the Ukrainians started a war, they wouldn't get away with it with just a few hundred casualties. If a war starts, Russia would inflict a serious penalty on Kiev and perhaps annex all of Eastern Ukraine.

Judging by Kiev's recent behavior, they seem to have gotten cold feet. Particularly after the US warships tucked tail out of the black sea. They were gambling big on American protection and the US sent to warships to the Black sea. But Russia announced that the ships would be treated as hostile elements and told them to get for their own good.

The US ships ran quickly, even before them, a US carrier group left the Mediterranean. So Ukraine seems less confident about their chances.

Russia on the other hand might be seeking to intimidate Ukraine into agreeing to the Minsk II agreement
