All of this makes for some amusing commentary, but running the empire is serious business and it has an impact on our lives. The whole point of popular government is the people have some say in who is in charge and hold them accountable. If who is in charge is a secret, then the whole reason for popular government goes out the window. Why have elections if the whole thing is nothing but a show?

This is the next big challenge for the dissident right. If we can't get at least half of the republican base to deeply internalize this truth I think we are super fucked.

This is where we're at now, and I think in retrospect, it's obvious we've been here for a pretty long time. There really isn't any reason to have any faith or respect for the fake democracy we live in

Parliamentarism has always been fake. A dictator can actually be more democratic than a bourgeois parliament.

Yep. Ryan actually had a good vid on autocracies being more responsive to public opinion than democracies but I can't seem to find it.
