The French nationalist scene has always been way ahead of the rest of us, from front national being a major player in politics while other countries had parties who were a decade or two from reaching parliament to the French new right who had developed a good ideological platform for dissident right wing politics in the 60s. France has a strong and living illiberal political tradition and French politics are a great source of inspiration for the rest of us.

The French New right strong anti-christianity would alienate at least 50-60% of Europeans (percentage of France and EU that are christian) and their pagan spiritualism alienates 10-30% of Europeans (percentage of france and EU that is atheist / materialist), and their support of the USSR alienated conservatives, and their elitism alienated populist. Benoist / GRECE appears pretty bad in this new book, though this is only a reflection Faye's circle and in viewpoint.

I do like to read them and they have interesting ideas and insights (mostly Dominque Venner, Faye and Renaud Camus), but most of them understood democracy wouldn't get them elected. Also Marie Le Pen has zero connection to the French New right and would probably denounce them as racist.

Total nonsense. And it's Marine.

I got Jean-Marie le pen's name confused with Marine Le pen (calling her Marie Le Pen). Tell me the connection the national front / national rally has with the French new right? It is true that Jean-Marie le pen did have a connection, but Marine le pen expelled him from the party for ideological reasons, she also changed the name of party to distance itself from it's far right roots. The national front has had a different ideological bent from the french new right to begin with since their catholic populist not pagan evolian elitist. You can find many references on the internet of Benoist attacking National front and both Marine Le Pen and Jean-Marie le pen.

The main connection is identitarianism.

Any non religious person alienated by "pagan spiritualism" is not the type to vote for a nationalist party. It is not dogmatic like Abrahamic religions so I don't know why atheist would be bothered by it, in fact most of the pagan spirituality comes from non religious right wing people trying to become religious.

This is really good news. Le Pen's party is fast becoming a model for what other nationalist parties should be: anti-immigration, strong labor laws, Pro-Russia, America-skeptic and environmentalist.

There must be some secret intellectual base behind the national rally, that or they read alt right ideas or such ideas have penetrated into them. The more days pass, the more our ideas seem to be picked up by the mainstream.

Now I won't grandstand and say that they read this sub or the daily stormer or counter currents, its entirely plausible that they independently grew into these ideas. After all, these are just common sense reply to the left.

Where have you been? The French literally invented most of the ideas of the Alt-Right. Ever heard of the Nouvelle Droite? Alain de Benoist? Guillaume Faye? Renaud Camus?
