What to do in an election when there's no one even remotely on our side?

My city has their mayoral election coming up later this year. I was looking at the list of declared candidates right now and, as you might imagine, it's pretty dismal. The one Republican on the ticket is some incumbent white lady who hasn't been all that conservative, while there are like five Democrat contesters. At least one of the Democratics is at least a white man, but he's super liberal and I just don't really feel even remotely comfortable with any of them.

I don't like the idea of not voting at all; that feels like just giving up. I'm a proud American citizen and I want to exercise my right to vote, but there's just no candidate who resonates with me. What do you guys do when an election like this comes around?

    Interesting, I didn't know that. That might be a viable way forward. (Also, it's good because I'd rather avoid the limelight anyways haha)

    Realistically speaking, this existential struggle will take decades. In terms of the immediate future, electoral politics can’t save us.

    But it can help us buy time. Republican policy tends to be marginally better than the alternatives.

    That being said, time alone is useless. What we do with that potential shortfall is what matters.
